CLASSES

REFINE FORM & TECHNIQUE

Notorious offers Kick Boxing, Kung Fu and Kid’s Strength & Karate so our athletes can train their agility, hand eye coordination and range of motion through a variety of disciplines.

KICK BOXING

Our kick boxing classes focus on conditioning to improve speed and reflexes. Sanshou, or Sanda, is the Chinese style of kickboxing based on traditional Kung Fu and modern self-defense techniques. Learn punches, kicks, takedowns, self-defense techniques, and how to better judge distance from your opponent. 
 
No experience is required and beginners are welcome. Private lessons are available by appointment.

First we warm-up with stretches, punches and kicks. Next athletes will put on their gloves and partner up for rounds of sparing combos demonstrated by the coach. 

 

Partners will take turns holding for each other, catching each others punches and kicks as they attack. Jabs, crosses, hooks, upper cuts and various kicks are combined in sequences to challenge your form and stamina. Class ends with conditioning such as punching bag, kick paddle and footwork drills.

Athletes will need martial arts sneakers for the carpeted area or they can wear their socks or go barefoot. We will provide boxing gloves if you don’t have your own.

KUNG-FU

Our Kung Fu classes combine traditional Shaolin and contemporary Wushu. New students begin training by learning basic punches, kicks, stances, and traditional fist forms. Contemporary Wushu, weapon training, tumbling, and complex forms are introduced as students progress. 

 

No experience is required and beginners are welcome. Private lessons are available by appointment.

On Saturdays our Kung Fu class focuses on stances and strength conditioning while Sunday’s class focuses on forms. After warming up the body, athletes will practices their kicks, punches, stances. 

 

When training forms, athletes will receive feedback to make improvements each round of turns. Conditioning at the end of each class will be a combination of drills such as push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups and leg raises.

KIDS' STRENGTH & KARATE

Our Kids’ Strength & Karate class provides children with a positive outlet for their energy. Kids who join their parents in making fitness a priority understand the joy of working towards a goal. The class introduces children to strength training movements like push-ups and sled pushes and encourages focus and discipline through karate training.

 

Children who are regularly active:

  • May see test scores increase by 40%
  • Are 15% more likely to go to college
  • May see an improvement in cognitive function such as thinking and memory
