Our athletes incorporate active rest with our Yoga and TacFit programs to improve their mobility and restore muscular function to support their fitness goals.
YOGA
Yoga at Notorious has been designed to help you regain basic mobility and loosen muscles tightened from strength training. Building and maintaining a stretching routine will allow you to squat deeper, have better form in overhead movements, create more space in your body to move through life and help you recover faster.
It doesn’t matter how tight or inexperienced you are, as long as you show up and use modifications you will begin to see change in your mobility and experience calming of the nervous system.
A typical yoga class involves connecting with your breath, then flowing through stretches that will lengthen your muscles. Not only will you relax and deepen into your muscles, but you will also observe your mind.
Yoga involves slowing down which isn’t always easy but extremely beneficial to your mental health. Yoga mats and props such as blocks and stretch bands will be provided in class.
CrossFit and other everyday movements benefit from having good range of motion in the ankles, hamstrings, hips and shoulders. Unfortunately, we begin to lose range of motion in these areas due to modern movement patterns.
For example, sitting at a 90 degree angle, hunching over our phones or computers or shoes that restrict ankle movement. We are slowly becoming locked out in these stagnant positions.
Beginning and maintaining a stretch routine is important for not only improving form for strength training but moving with ease and less pain in our daily lives.
TACFIT WORKSHOPS
Our TacFit workshops help our athletes restore muscular function with practical movements. We focus on moving in the way your body has evolved to move freely without pain.
A variety of tools are used for these exercises, including kettlebells, clubbells and medicine balls. The upcoming workshops will be posted in our community app and athletes will be reminded during class.
TacFit aids in:
- Building functional power, stamina, endurance and agility
- Improving body alignment
- Removing aches and pain by restoring mobility and joint health
